Artists Asserting their Art: The ASSERT YOUR ART Workshop

Passion and determination are energies that ruled within the PLAYHOUSE last Saturday, April 27 as artists from different fields come together to talk about their continuing struggles in pursuing their art and how they keep up doing what they love to do.

Participants were composed of photographers, musicians, singers, actors, writers, dancers, etc. It was a day full of creativity which energized the entirety of PLAYHOUSE Production.

A film depicting the journey of every aspiring artist was first shown to the participants. Then, lectures on different interesting topics ensued.

Everyone interestingly listened and actively participated with the discussion as new knowledge for them to be empowered has been presented to them.

ARE YOU PASSIVE, AGGRESSIVE, PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE OR ASSERTIVE?

The four kinds of communication styles have been discussed, concluding that the artists communicate assertively using their art to reach out to people and make a statement. No further aggression or suppression is needed. It is up to the audience how they will take it or if they will be moved.

THE OPTIMIST'S CREED

THE SECRET is out in the open! To get what you want, just think of it and it will materialize. You attract the thoughts you think and make them become real. This is the Universal Law of Attraction, in which, realized artists are in an advantage of, as they continually express what they want (consciously or unconsciously) through their art.

AN ARTISTS' LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE

Every artists run deep, most especially their experiences, which are much more varied and diverse than most normal people in the world. Their inspiration or motivation comes from the different planes of experience. From the lowest bodily sensations to the highest spiritual realms, artists can creatively weave these together with their imagination and thoughts. Every experience is unique and so is every interpretation, and that is why we have an ever evolving art.

HANS-GEORG GADAMER'S "ART AS PLAY"

PLAYHOUSE Production upholds Gadamer's concept of "ART AS PLAY". It is a concept wherein all artists imbibe a common goal in doing an artwork or performing a piece. The value of being a team player and meeting the goal more than "being professional" and get the job done is emphasized.

THE CHAKRAS

The importance of our chakras and how they contribute to the creative juices of an artist was discussed as prelude to the energy cleansing and creativity-boost meditation.

The meditation concludes the workshop, to empower all participants to believe in their art no matter what so they can ASSERT it.
